As parents we always wanted our girls to have as much as we could possibly afford. On a school teachers salary, many months that wasn't much. When you have three girls everything has to be bought in threes. At the time gemstone necklaces became popular, the hand strung necklaces were retailing at $75 and up. There was no way we could afford to bejewel three girls with these necklaces. I purchased some beads at a flea market and taught myself how to string necklaces from studying different methods and trying different wires, crimps, etc. for the best combination. Soon the girl's friends wanted necklaces as well and the jewelry business started from there. Each of the girls learned how to string necklaces along with designs added by good friend, Ryan. Gary even spent some nights in front of the television watching football and stringing necklaces. Our goal from the beginning has been to bring our customers the best value for their dollar. We understand stretching a budget. Feel confident that we spend everyday looking for the best deal for the dollar that we can pass on to you.
GIDDY UP GLAMOUR began as a part-time collaboration of five designers and now operates on a daily basis with twelve full time employees and 20-25 part-time employees, striving to accommodate and glamourize all ages, sizes and taste. We operated online and weekend shows for four years. We have worked in every aspect of the company from ordering, tagging, photography, and cleaning the toilets when necessary. We never ask our employees to do something that we haven't done ourselves. We are very hands on every day. You will find that we personally answer many of the daily emails and if we didn't answer, you can be sure that we double checked the response each customer was given. If you visit us at a show you will find us personally doing the set up and tear down along with merchandising and working with customers. We started humbly on our kitchen table and we have never forgotten where we came from!
After many requests, we opened our first boutique in our hometown, Huntsville, Texas in May, 2011. Always ready for a new challenge, we began searching around Texas in early 2012 for an additional location. After visiting several towns, we found the right fit in the historically famous Stockyard District of Fort Worth. Although the Fort Worth location is now closed, you can also shop Giddy Up Glamour in College Station and Nacogdoches, Texas and now Waco, Texas as of Fall of 2017!
Welcome to our website. I am NANCY CHRISTIAN, owner of GIDDY UP GLAMOUR. I live in my hometown, Huntsville, Texas with husband, Gary. I am a proud third generation Walker County resident and a third generation Huntsville High School graduate. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BBA in Accounting. While I no longer service tax and accounting clients, I manage the accounting and daily operation of GIDDY UP GLAMOUR. I was raised with a livestock background with influences from 4-H and FFA. We in turn raised our girls the same way.
Our customer base began with our livestock friends and has grown to a nationwide base of over 310,000 fans plus we expand into other countries as far as Russia, Australia, Thailand, United Kingdom, Italy and Japan and the list goes on and on. We are continually amazed at the new places we ship. It's been a struggle some days and lots of hard work everyday, but we are thankful each and every day for the blessings that are bestowed upon us.
Now meet the rest of the family.....
GARY CHRISTIAN is in charge of shipping. Gary is a native of Mauriceville, Texas but relocated to Huntsville in 1970 to attend Sam Houston State University and stayed. He coached in Madisonville public schools before starting a career teaching in the Windham School District. A retiree from 30 years of teaching, he now spends his days packaging GIDDY UP GLAMOUR and shipping Glamour throughout the world!
MALLORY PARRISH is our middle daughter. Mallory has loved fashion since she was a toddler and has an eye for trends before they are trends. She really lends a great deal to the design team by keeping us in "on the edge" designs. Mallory, Texas A&M '10, returned full time to GIDDY UP GLAMOUR as General Manager, designer, buyer and personal shopper for many of our clients.
ABBY CHRISTIAN is our youngest daughter. Abby is a 2013 graduate of Huntsville High School. After years of showing livestock from goats, lambs, or steers, to occasionally a pig or two, Abby began a new chapter of her life as a member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2017 where she recently completed a degree in Ag Business. She is found filling in when necessary at the warehouse, in the boutiques and road shows and will begin a graduate program in the fall of 2017.
KATIE PARRISH VERETT is our oldest daughter. Katie is a member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2008 where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Agri-Business. She graduated in May 2010 with her MAB in Ag Business and after a small stay with GUG she now has relocated to the Lubbock area and works for Dow Agriscience. We don’t get her and husband Kris home as much as we like to work in the GIDDY UP GLAMOUR workshop but we count on her to keep an eye out for new trends. She has a keen eye when it comes to combining colors and stones. Katie and Kris recently welcomed our first grandson to the family and we are all thrilled with this new chapter for all of our family as grandparents, parents and aunts!
Thanks from our family to yours!
